Reintroducing the Charming World of Chespirito

You may recognize the playful jingle from the television show that played in the background on Saturday mornings.

Now, we’re thrilled to announce the release of our new podcast, “Chespirito,” narrated by the hilarious comedian, Felipe Esparza.

In a time when telenovelas consumed the biggest audience in North and South America, a Mexican comedian shifted their attention to a comedy show starring a young boy dressed as a red grasshopper who pranced around and said unusual phrases like “No contaban con mi astucia.”

Felipe Esparza was selected to tell us about the captivating life and legacy of Roberto Gómez Bolaños because of his deep appreciation and personal connection to Chespirito as a fan.  Adding his comedic flare and personality to the podcast, Esparza tells us how Bolaños was able to transcend languages and borders and live forever in the memory of more than one generation through the creation of iconic characters like Chespirito, El Chapulín Colorado and El Chavo del Ocho.

This non-fiction series explores the moments that shaped the trajectory of Chespirito to give us the most beloved family television show from the United States to Argentina.

But creating the iconic show didn’t come easy. During its development, the series faced difficult moments like creative roadblocks, dramatic feuds among cast members and even a trial that lasted over a decade. This series explores the complexities and mistakes that took place on and off the set.

Despite the highs and lows, Chespirito became a comedic legend widely recognized on the Western Hemisphere for his ability to gather families and television audiences who didn’t understand the language. His legacy is a testament to the power that humor holds and his mark in history continues to live on.
